The People of Vienna – Episode 5

“Why is it so windy? Is it always like that?”, asked me Euridice, with a comical desperation in her voice. Well, fortunately or not, Vienna is indeed famous for its almost constant windy days, with only 4 days per year with no breeze in the air. It’s difficult to adjust to it, especially during November and March, when even a minus temperature is felt much stronger because of the wind.

She came from France to visit Vienna and perhaps catalysed by the harsh weather conditions, she seemed to be having be having a contemplative wholesome moment, on the edge of the dried water basin in Karlsplatz. When asked where she finds hope, she replied “food” without hesitation, while the thing she loves the most now is her “family.
